Industry officials are saying that the price of petrol could go up by about 10 Pakistani Rupees (PKR) per litre. This increase is because the prices of crude oil in the international market have gone up.

So, in the next review that happens every two weeks, the price of petrol could jump to around PKR 289.69 per litre. Right now, it’s at about PKR 279.75 per litre.

As for kerosene, its price might see a slight dip of PKR 0.17 per litre, making it PKR 188.49 per litre instead of the current PKR 188.66 per litre. On the other hand, the price of light diesel oil (LDO) is expected to go up by PKR 0.45 per litre, reaching PKR 168.63 from PKR 168.18 per litre.

An official explained that the local petrol price hike is because the international market prices for petrol have gone up recently. .

Conversely, the drop in HSD price globally means a decrease in its price in Pakistan too. Around the world, the cost of High Speed Diesel (HSD) dropped to $98 per barrel in the past few weeks. This is down from $99 per barrel during the first 15 of March.
