Taiwan earthquake rescuers face threat of landslides, rockfalls; death toll at 12

Taiwan earthquake

In Taiwan earthquake, rescuers are working hard to find a dozen people who are still missing after a big earthquake hit earlier this week. The earthquake caused a lot of problems, like landslides and rocks falling down from the mountains. Sadly, 12 people have died because of it.

After the earthquake, many people were stuck in a national park called Taroko Gorge because the roads were blocked by big rocks. But the good news is that some of those stuck were rescued and brought to safety.

Even though the main earthquake is over, there are still small shakes called aftershocks happening. These can be scary too, and they’ve been felt even in Taipei, which is far away from where the earthquake hit.

Rescuers are doing their best to help. They’ve made sure that around 400 people who were stuck in a fancy hotel in Taroko Gorge are safe. They’re using helicopters to bring injured people to hospitals and to bring food and other supplies to those who need them.
